EPA Tier 3 Breaking News! Two Decimal Places No More!

Refiners, Importers, Testing Labs, lend me your EPA Tier 3 Gasoline Sulfur results!

I have just received word direct from the EPA that they are reverting on the two decimal place requirement that was originally posted in their November 2016 "Questions and Answers Regarding EPA’s Tier 3 Gasoline Sulfur Regulations 40 CFR Part 80 Subparts D, E, H, and O." They will be posting an updated Q&A soon to reflect this. See below.

“Based on feedback we received from refiners and importers on our draft batch Tier 3 reporting forms (circulated after we posted the Q&A), we have changed the number of reported decimal places back to zero.  The instructions on the batch reporting forms will say report zero decimal places.  We also need to post a revised Q&A which states this.”

This should make compliance easier for labs and instrument manufacturers alike.

Stay tuned as we will continue to keep you updated as the Tier 3 Program continues to roll out and evolve.

Feel free to contact me with further questions.
